Monthly Kindness Activities - This resource is a great way to promote a positive and kind classroom throughout the entire school year. It was designed for encouraging random acts of kindness in the school classroom, but it could also be used for children in church group settings or in family settings as well. I have included ten different posters and activities to encourage the children to be kind to one another. I like to designate a “kindness bulletin board” in my room where I hang the monthly poster along with the corresponding completed kindness activity. It is fun and motivational for the children to see all the acts of kindness on display each month! This kindness resource includes the following pages along with detailed instructions: • September poster and activity: Helping Hands • October poster and activity: Pay It Forward • November poster and activity: Say It Forward • December poster and activity: Caught Being Kind • January poster and activity: Kindness Links Us Together • February poster and activity: Have a Heart • March poster and activity: We are Lucky • April poster and activity: Let Kindness Bloom • May poster and activity: Brighten Someone’s Day • Extra poster and activity: Sprinkle Kindness • End of the year reflection writing page • End of the year kindness certificates • Two kindness banners to hang in your room: BE KIND and CHOOSE KINDNESS Kindness activities, posters, and banners come in both a colored version as well as a black and white version. ★ Please check out the preview to see page samples of these kindness activities and to ensure they match the ability level of your class. M I S S I O N P O S S I B L E What better time to post about spreading kindness and love than Valentines! This random acts of kindness activity is a HUGE hit in my room every year. It transforms students into secret agents (of kindness)! Students watch this phenomenal video about spreading kindness and then are challenged to become secret agents. As an agent, their job is to perform random acts of kindness in our classroom without getting caught. They love sneaking around doing kind activities, and having others do nice things for them! Here are some pictures of our MISSION POSSIBLE envelopes, the students opening them, finding their special pens, and reading their secret missions...messages will not self destruct. ;) The first time I introduce this activity I have it last 1 week. After that our class will do it once a quarter :) I've had other teachers use the activity and have it last the entire month. It's easily adaptable and works wonders on building my classroom community each time. Seeing the students engaged and BEGGING to help each other brightens my day like few things do! New friendships are made and students see each other in a different light. Here the students have found their own cozy space to read their debriefings! Click here to give it a try in your own room! :) Grab invisible ink secret agent pens here to add a little fun! This is the video I introduce the activity with - it sends such a strong message! (Teacher Suggestion: I always embed videos onto our classroom website so there's no chance of inappropriate advertisements!)
