It is often considered a pioneer or colonizing species and is known for its adaptability to various environmental conditions.The Boxelder Maple typically reaches heights of 12 to 24 meters (40 to 80 feet) with a spread of 9 to 15 meters (30 to 50 feet) at maturity. It has a relatively short lifespan compared to other maples, typically living up to 30 to 60 years.The leaves of the Boxelder Maple are compound, consisting of three to seven leaflets. The leaflets are elongated and have serrated margins. The color of the leaves can vary, ranging from bright green to a bluish-green hue. In some instances, the leaves may turn yellow in the fall, but they are not known for significant fall coloration.In early spring, the Boxelder Maple produces clusters of small, greenish-yellow flowers. The flowers are not particularly showy. Following the flowers, the tree develops winged samaras, which are paired seeds with papery wings. It only reaches 7 meters in height when fully grown and its diminutive sizes makes it an ideal tree for small gardens. It can be grown either as a single stem or multi-stem tree. Box Elder Aureomarginata grows at a rapid rate. It is a long-living deciduous tree and should flourish in the garden for at least fifty or more years.Variegated leaves are the true focal point of the small tree. The pinnate leaves have a yellowish-white coloured margin and the interior is a bright green. Plant this tree beside evergreens or other darker plants to create visual contrast in the garden and to truly appreciate its lovely variegated foliage. During the autumn, the foliage typically turns yellow before falling from the tree to reveal interesting pale grey branches. During the spring and early summer, the tree does flower and bear tiny fruit but they offer no ornamental significance and are often completely overlooked.The small Box Elder grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade. It is a hardy little tree and will tolerate a wide array of soil types and pH levels. However, it does not like overly wet feet, so you should pick a well-draining planting site. De boom maakt in deze periode ook weer nieuw blad aan. Standplaats De Acer negundo 'Flamingo' heeft weinig eisen aan de grondsoort waarin hij staat. Groeit zowel op een vochtige als een iets droge grond. Hoe plant je de boom? Bepaal de definitieve standplaats van de boom en zorg dat deze vrij is van kabels, afval, oude beplanting en andere dingen die de groei van de boom kunnen belemmeren. Graaf een plantgat dat 2 maal de breedte van de wortelkuit heeft. Spit de bodem van het plantgat goed door en vermeng de vrijgekomen grond met (biologische) tuinaarde of aanplantgrond. Maak het plantgat op hoogte waarin de wortelkuit past en druk de grond stevig aan. Vul het plantgat met water en wacht tot dit gezakt is. Controleer of de wortelkuit voldoende vochtig is. Plaats de boom of plant in het plantgat. Het is enorm belangrijk dat de boom niet te diep staat, dan kan deze namelijk gaan rotten op de wortels. Plaats een boompaal of bamboestok stevig in de grond aan de kant van de boom waarvan de meeste wind komt. Plaats nu de gietrand of maak een walletje van grond rondom de boom zodat het water bij de boom de grond in kan zakken. Der Eschenahorn (Acer negundo) ein lockerer, mehrstämmiger, malerischer Großstrauch, der, je nach Sorte, Blüten in verschiedenen Farben hervorbringt. An einem sonnigen bis halbschattigen Standort erreicht er gewöhnlich eine Höhe von ca. 15 m und wird ca. 12 m breit. An den Boden stellt der Eschenahorn keine besonderen Ansprüche.
