12 Field Company, Royal Engineers Lt Osmaston, from Pachmarhi, Central Provinces, India, was educated in England at United Services College, Bognor; St George's School, Harpenden and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich (where he was awarded the King's Gold Medal). Lt Osmaston received his commission on 28 July 1915 and subsequently served on the Western Front, where he was wounded in 1916 and awarded the Military Cross. Lt Osmaston was killed in action, aged 20, on 26 August 1917 and is buried in Béthune Town Cemetery. Faces of the First World War The full story is not always known to us.
