Happy Friday! I can hardly believe my birthday is next Friday, which is also the first day of November. It's mind blowing! How are we already into the final months of 2013?! My dear friend Nicole, from Bloom, and I have been so excited to finally announce this Instagram challenge we've been planning for the last few weeks. Since I am smitten with everything "home" related, and November is a month where we truly remember to reflect on our blessings, many of which begin at home, we created this 30 day Instagram challenge. We're calling it the Joy Filled Home Challenge and we'd LOVE for you to join us! Below are the prompts for each day in November. November 1st (my birthday!), we'll kick off with posting a picture of your favorite room in your house. Be sure to read through each of the prompts before you start taking pictures each day, so you can really think about what you want to capture :) Be sure to use the hashtag #JOYFILLEDHOMECHALLENGE and tag Nicole and I in your post so we can go through all the pictures! We really can't wait to see all the photos of where you call "home" and really use this month intentionally to focus on everything God has blessed us with. So, if your house is big or small, finished or completely in the middle of projects, rented or owned, house or apartment (or even a dorm room!), we hope you'll join in the fun. Feel free to spread the word about this challenge! We made the image below for you to put on your blogs or instagrams: Follow us on instagram: @michaelanoelle & @nicolevcole Comment below and let us know if you're in! Happy weekend! xoxo

. The windows of 10 Avenue George V, BALENCIAGA ,were for many seasons, graced with the fantastic sculptures by Janine Janet made just for Balenciaga. Balenciaga let Janine Janet have free reign to her fantasies-only stipulating that the windows never appear commercial. Within the three windows, perfumes or other hints of Balenciaga were discreetly placed by Janet. The effect of the windows was to suggest the art of the couturier not the production of-just imagine. The success of the windows was evident in their longevity. Many of Janet's works would stay in place for a year or more. Her first windows in 1952 were representations of Air, Earth and Water. She employed feathers, arrows, sculpted birds, sheaves of wheat, straw hats and flowers eluding to the elaborate work of the famous silk weavers of the 18th century. She continued to work with Balenciaga for years. Her work can also be seen in Cocteau's. There was a constant play between the couturier and the sculptor. image from BALENCIAGA, by Lesley Ellis Miller Janet's La Reine at Balenciaga Balenciaga window-1962. This is another photograph by the Belgian photographer Leonard Misonne and dates from 1899, it shows the view from Lower Regent Street junction with Waterloo Place looking south across Pall Mall to the Duke of York Column. The Guards Crimean War Memorial is in the centre and the Athenaeum Club is at top right. The building on the left was demolished in 1909 and replaced with Cox's Bank, that same building is now a hotel.
The pictures from the Historic England archive trace the country's transformation from 1839 when photography was invented to the present day.
