I love stamping! New stamps are the thing that makes my heart beat faster and as a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I have an almost unlimited supply. In fact my biggest problem is finding the time to play with them all as much as I want to! The stamp set I'm using today is definitely one that I'd like to spend more time with. Come and see: These butterflies are beautifully detailed and a joy to colour! They come from the Kindness Matters stamp set from the annual catalogue. I used inks and a blender pen to give a slightly translucent look, then added a touch of glitter to add to the delicate look. The shadows are marked in with a Sahara Sand Watercolour Wonder crayon and I'm really pleased with how subtle it is. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I added a line of piercing either side to prevent the butterflies from seeming top heavy. Here's what you'll need to make this card Stamps: Kindness Matters, Teeny Tiny Wishes Ink: Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Stazon black Card stock: Whisper White Other: Markers, Neutrals Watercolour Wonder crayons, stamp-a-majig, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Essentials paper piercing templates (Sale-a-bration freebie) I'D BE DELIGHTED TO ORDER ANY OF THESE ITEMS FOR YOU AND HAVE THEM DELIVERED STRAIGHT TO YOUR ADDRESS IN THE UK. I'M COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AM ALWAYS HAPPY TO OFFER HELP AND ADVICE. TO PLACE YOUR ORDER, JUST SEND ME AN EMAIL OR GIVE ME A CALL ON 01280 820593. • DON'T FORGET TO ADD ONE OF THESE FREE SALE-A-BRATION ITEMS FOR EVERY £45 YOU SPEND At the weekend, my daughter announced that part of her art project would involve observational drawing of a spider so yesterday (in preference to pulling one out from behind the furniture - aargh!) we took a trip to the Natural History Museum at Tring where the spiders are safely preserved behind glass. A narrow escape I feel... but who knows what the rest of half term will bring?! See you tomorrow,

I've been watercoloring with Distress Inks a lot lately - stamped images, die cuts, whatever I can find that will take the ink. You have to give a little visual leeway with this card in terms of whether the tulips are really in the watering can (that right-hand tulip leaf is sticking out!). I got

Happy Monday folks! Hope you all had a good weekend. I can see this week speeding by .... which is great! I'm off on my travels again at the weekend for another short trip across to the UK - yeah!! Before I board that plane on Friday though there's loads to do. I've made a good start to the week though...... so far this morning I've done 2 loads in the washing machine, done the ironing, made sure Stephen got off to work on time (he's flying to Dublin this morning, he's working over there for 2 days), got the little one up and dressed (mum's on the breakfast shift), had a quick tidy round, cleaned the bathrooms AND made time to enter this week's Less is More Challenge - and all that was before 11o'clock. Not bad for a Monday morning! I got a lovely surprise on Saturday too ..... I'd actually been ShowCASed on my favourite Blog Challenge, for my Spring Flowers OLC - whoo hoo!! Thanks ladies ...... it's an honour being chosen for the ShowCASe. We have a LIM Recipe to follow this week ...... in two parts. First of all we have to use THREE of something on our cards, then for the second bit the ladies would like us to comment on THREE other entries, hopefully ones we haven't visited before. LIM is such a popular Challenge Blog, and it gets so many fabulous entries each week it's hard to find the time to comment on each one, as much as I'd love to (we all like to get comments now don't we!) This week, as well as all my regular blog buddies, I promise to visit at least 3 blogs that I haven't visited before. Here's today's card ..... full of 3's There's 3 flower heads ..... all on the same rubber stamp - 'quite dandy' from Penny Black. 3 circles ........ I made myself some masks and inked through them using Distress inks. 3 colours ........ Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade and Mowed Lawn. 3 words ..... one of the stamps from Tim Holtz's 'Simple Sayings' made into a tag And to finish off I took a corner rounder to 3 of the corners. Done! Now all I need to do is go and leave my comments. I think it's time to get the coffee on don't you. Thanks for popping by today ..... have a lovely Monday and enjoy the rest of the week. Cheerio until next time ....... Linda xx
Hello! I've been pondering my cards and what I like about them, what other people say they like about them, which ones get visited when they're first posted, and then which ones gain attention in the more anonymous world of Pinterest. I've almost given up on making cards with a view to pleasing anyone but myself. I would never be able to predict which cards will end up being popular, so I just play with my stamping for my own satisfaction these days. :-) It's quite liberating. That doesn't mean that I'm not still attempting to be published, or that I don't plan on entering challenges (I LOVE challenges), but it does mean I'm not second-guessing other people's opinions and tastes while I create. What I find a little frustrating sometimes is when something I submitted for publication is not selected and then it goes on to be loved by my readers, loved on Pinterest, loved everywhere, except by the publishers. (It's okay, I know that lots of AWESOME projects are not accepted, it just frustrates me that I haven't yet cracked the challenge of publication even once.) I'm not going to tell you which ones were not selected and then became popular. ;-) So let's talk about cards. Here is one that I don't think I shared yet. It was submitted for Paper Crafts Magazine July/August issue (and not selected). It's simple, but I really like it. :-) It still appeals to me as much as when I made it. That's the good part of creating cards that I like myself. Now let's look at the card that has been repinned so many times I couldn't tell you where it now lives in the internet. It keeps coming back. It still sits at the top of my traffic count every week most weeks. It is the top post of all time on my blog, thanks to Pinterest. I loved it when I made it, but I wouldn't call it my best card ever, and yet here it is, my most popular card ever. Go figure! The next most popular card is this one. It took a while to take off, but again it was Pinterest that brought in the traffic, and it is still being pinned, crazy! This one was a CASE of Laura Bassen, (who I would CASE everyday if I could get away with it) and I'm still in love with it. I just LOVE this card. I'm glad other people like it. A couple of other cards that have gained attention are... Most recently this one. I do like this card. I love how the glitter adds texture and interest. I love the black stars on the bright orange watercoloured background. From last year this one. I do like this card. I really love the watercoloured butterflies. But, the card as a whole never really grabbed me. But other people LOVE it. A lesson in "always share your work, even when you aren't totally happy with it". And before I go, some cards that I like most from my collection (but not all of them, I do like quite a few). Yep, definitely a CAS girl at heart. I'd better stop there, or you'll get worn out with all the scrolling. Anyway, it is way past my bedtime, so I'll sign off for the night. Thanks for visiting, and I hope I'll be back with something new very soon. Michelle xxx

Hi there! I have a winner from Challenge #20, thank you to everyone who took the time to enter :) The winner is: True Random Number Generator Min: 1 Max: 26 Result: 20 Powered by RANDOM.ORG It's Skye!!!! Congratulations Skye. Please email me with your address and I will pop a little something in the mail for you. Next week we will start a new challenge. Ok, I do have some cards to share. Ange has created a lovely and elegant card using stamps from WPlus9. This stamp company makes gorgeous stamps, dies and impression plates. Ange LOL, who wouldn't love a pair of socks like this! Angeline has made a fun card using 'Hello Friend' from Avocado Arts. Angeline I decided to play along with Paper Smooches Sparks challenge today, it's been a while since I last joined in. The challenge is to use this photo as inspiration. I used the colours as the base for my card. I have used stamps from Paper Smooches 'Perpetual Bliss'. The papers are from My Minds Eye, 'Blush' and die cut with Die-namics 'Fishtail Flag Stax'. Have a fantastic day :) Jay Gee
Hello stampy friends!! Today’s the last day to upload “homework” for the latest Online Card Class: CAS3, so I’ve gathered up the projects that I completed and through I’d quickly share them. But before I do that, I just wanted to mention that I truly love taking the Online Card Classes. Each lesson is full to the brim with inspiration and *smacking my head* brilliant techniques and ideas that everyone should be adding to their arsenal of “go to” ideas. Seriously, every single day I’m asking myself “why didn’t I think of that?” But the truth is that Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner (and friends) are creative geniuses, and so very generous with their knowledge and talent. I can’t wait for the next class!! Let’s get to my homework, shall we? I should start by saying that, for the most part, I just cased the samples of the various instructors. I had ideas of my own, but in the interest of time, and the lack of wanting to screw it up and have to start over, I tried to follow as closely to their samples as I possibly could. My first sample was inspired (and slightly different) from a card that Jennifer McGuire shared that was demonstrating different techniques to create an optical illusion on a one-layer card. I need to figure out a better way to “lock down” my stencil to my project while I’m sponging the ink on, because mine moved around and shifted a bit. Thankfully it adds to the optical illusion that I was trying to create, so it’s not super noticeable. At least that’s what I told myself. LOL This next project was inspired by a project and technique by Julie Ebersole called Textural Effects. I again slightly deviated from but pretty closely CASE’d what Julie created. I used a different sentiment and a different die to create the double embossing. Isn’t it so cool?!! I’ll most definitely be doing this again!! This project was inspired by a technique and project that Kristina Werner created, and focused on Simple Coloring. I colored Spectrum Noir pens in a rainbow pattern on vellum and put it behind the die cut sentiment and hearts. Super easy, and very fun to create! I used different dies than Kristina, but I pretty much CASE’d what she did. Again, *smacking my head* brilliant! This final project was a project and technique by Julie Ebersole that I pretty much copied identically because I just thought it was so danged cute! I would so do this again, because it came together quickly, and packs a super fun punch that I think would make anyone happy! This is the first time that I’ve created so many of the homework assignments, and I loved exercising my creative chops to add some super fun and useful ideas and techniques to my card making arsenal. If you need that extra “bump” to get out of a creative slump, I’m telling you these classes are priceless!! That’s it for me today, friends. It’s going to be a hot one here this weekend, but I’m hoping to get some more stuff done in my craft room. I’ll be back tomorrow to share my latest Paper Smooches project. Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Here we are at the first 25th of the year! I know Christmas seems like yesterday, but we know that we all should be starting on making those special hand-made cards to send to friends and family! Here is a bit of inspiration for you from Karen. Trimming the Tree by Karen Letchworth There's always "that one die" with every company.....you know "that one" I'm talking about.....that very special one that catches your eye immediately, and you can't stop thinking about it. Yes, now you're getting the idea. Well, for me....."that one special die" from Frantic Stamper was IMMEDIATELY the Frantic Stamper Original Precision Die called Large Blue Spruce. From the moment I saw this amazing die, I knew in my mind what I wanted to do with it. Right away, I was envisioning these sweet trees cut from vellum. I was envisioning the vellum making the trees appear as though they are snow-covered. I contemplated glittering them to also capture the feeling of snow; but instead, I layered the vellum trees, and then added some white sequins. I even used a small piece of double-sided foam tape to raise up one of the trees. Don't they look lovely? I think next time, I'll sprinkle them with some glitter. How pretty! My card uses some sweet Crate Paper patterned papers and adorable chipboard pieces from their Bundled Up Collection, and the sentiment I chose is a dainty little Melissa Frances Rub-On. I tried to keep it simple so that these lovely vellum die-cut trees would be the star of my card. Here in this second, more close-up photo of the card, you can really see the wonderful textures of these gorgeous vellum trees. The high quality of these precision dies always make a crisp clean cut right through the vellum with ease. I've yet to find a paper or other medium that I can't use with these wonderful dies. I just LOVE how these sweet vellum Large Blue Spruce Trees cut from vellum look on my card. I was right to think of it as "that one die", wasn't I? I absolutely love the sweet feel of a snow-capped forest I get from using this die with the vellum. Here's a look at another card: This last photo is a close-up of the second card. I just wanted you to see how the card looks with different numbers of layers of the vellum trees. Now, I've got myself thinking of using this die-cut to create gorgeous trees in green paper, in wool felt, in rustic paper, and so many other great textures and colors. What an amazingly GORGEOUS die-cut. Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at the two cards I've created using this fabulous die-cut. I really encourage you to check out this sweet die for yourself. You really would love it; along with several other lovely tree dies and other amazing shapes Frantic Stamper sells. Use your imagination to use Frantic Stamper dies to help you create something wonderful today! *** Materials for this project available at www.franticstamper.com. FRA-Die-09444 Tweet
Update on this page: Okay I now have sooooo many videos on art journaling that I can no longer house them all on this page (if you wish ...
Good morning, I hope you had a terrific weekend! Today we conclude our Inspiration Hops with the Gina K Designs team, featuring "What's the Dirt?" but you can be sure you will continue to see more samples of this set and our other new ones throughout the month and beyond on our blogs and StampTV! :) Here's the full set: ...and here's my sample! I like the little trio of pots and this particular greeting grabbed me: "you are a ray of sunshine!" I love sponging rays of light on cards but I thought using paper today for a spotlighting effect would be cool! Simply stamp your posts at the bottom of a rectangle of Little Boy Blue cardstock and then again on white. Slice a diagonal of the white from corner to corner and layer over your blue like you are paper piecing! Color the portion that's in the sun, doesn't that look so cheerful and illuminated next to the blue? Here is a closeup. Card also uses Black Onyx, Innocent Pink, and the new KEY LIME , which I love!! I love greens and this is one of my favorites now in the Pure Luxury Line, you must try! It's so vibrant! Here are my new "Crazy Daisy" digital papers also, they use images from my "Spring Basket" and "A Year of Flowers" stamp sets, but they are also a terrific match for "What's the Dirt?" with these sweet daisies and ladybugs! They are available to download in full sheets, if you like big sheets of single colors, or quarters if you prefer printing out smaller mats all at once which are already sized for A2 cards. Wish I had some samples with them to share today but I don't have them ready yet, please check by later this week! :) And now please see more samples from our talented Gina K Designs team, and be sure to leave comments all along the way for more chances to win free stamps! Thank you for hopping with us! :) Gina K Melanie Muenchinger (you are here, thanks for visiting!) I've come to the conclusion that I am not able to keep up this blog any longer... as you can see from the fact that I haven't posted in two months :( I am going to leave it as is for anyone to reference and if I decide to delete it later in the future I will give notice in case anyone wants to save things first. Meanwhile, I've been learning digital designing and a potential aspect of that is doing templates - or digital sketches - so there is the possibility that I will post those here as new sketches from time to time. I will keep this post at the top and any new sketches will be underneath it. I will still have new sketches at Creative Scrappers and Mix It Up though, and I have a digi design blog where you can see what I've been keeping so busy at, if you're interested. Thanks for all the support!! ~day

Week 104 Sketch #8 This week we have a sketch for you drawn by Jen. It's simplicity itself, so to add a little constraint, we ask that the card stays in this orientation ie that the band remains in the horizontal plane, in the lower part of the card and that it takes up no more than 1/3rd of the height of the cardbase. . Jen For my first card I cased a technique that LIMette Vicky Hayes uses a lot... I have been meaning to try it for a while, but these Stampin Up stamps are perfect for it. The ribbon is also from Stampin Up. I stamped the leaves across the card first of all and then added a few flowers over the top. For my second card I have punch out lots of hearts (Stampin Up & Martha Stewart). I masked off the lines and filled in the area with the punched shapes. I simply added a Pink Petticoat sentiment to finish it off... Chrissie Here are a few Leaping Sheep from a stamp by Inca Stamps. The sheep are gently shaded and the grass coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment was computer generated using 2 Peas High Tide font. This one has a section cut out and the gap filled with a piece of acetate. The flowers, from a Martha Stewart punch were added and embellished with gems in each flower centre. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches mounted on a Dienamics tag and popped up on dimensional pads. These dies come in a set of 4 which are all joined together. Instead of breaking them all apart I kept them in twos and used this method to position the die around the sentiment. Cut a guide from scrap card and snip off half of the shape you don't wish to use! Place the guide around the stamped sentiment, centralising it within the shape Place the die into the guide so that it fits snugly and tape down the other die to prevent movement.(I use a tiny Post it note to do this) Gently remove the guide before running the card and die through the die cutting machine. The result is a perfectly centralised sentiment within the die-cut shape! My Cuttlebug plate is scarred and very well used but still works beautifully! We hope you enjoy this challenge. We have a great celebration in the offing next week for our Second Birthday Celebrations, so be sure to join us!
