It's been almost a year since October "Toby" Daye averted a war, gave up a county, and suffered personal losses that have left her wishing for a good day's sleep. She's tried to focus on her responsibilities-training Quentin, upholding her position as Sylvester's knight, and paying the bills-but she can't help feeling like her world is crumbling around her, and her increasingly reckless behavior is beginning to worry even her staunchest supporters. To make matters worse, Toby's just been asked to find another missing child...only this time it's the changeling daughter of her fellow knight, Etienne, who didn't even know he was a father until the girl went missing. Her name is Chelsea. She's a teleporter, like her father. She's also the kind of changeling the old stories warn about, the kind with all the strength and none of the control. She's opening doors that were never meant to be opened, releasing dangers that were sealed away centuries before-and there's a good chance she could destroy Faerie if she isn't stopped. Now Toby must find Chelsea before time runs out, racing against an unknown deadline and through unknown worlds as she and her allies try to avert disaster. But danger is also stirring in the Court of Cats, and Tybalt may need Toby's help with the biggest challenge he's ever faced. Toby thought the last year was bad. She has no idea.

Her Special ProjectThe minute Nick Durrance steps onto the porch of the once–grand, now run–down Meadowcroft home, he knows something is different. The woman at the door is not his ancient former teacher, but her young, beautiful grand–niece. Maggie is new to Collingwood Station and has inherited the house, which she intends to turn into a natural beauty spa. Nick can't see the women of this posh town putting yogurt and strawberries on their faces, nor can he see them accepting the eccentric Maggie. But when the whole town starts gravitating toward her, Nick realizes this woman is special–so special that she's even changed how people see him, a man who went against the wishes of his wealthy family to start his own construction business. It turns out the house is not all she's working on and when he finds out what–or who–her real project is, he's not going to like it!
Genuine Sweet by Faith Harkey, 277 pgs. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015. $7. Language: G; Mature Content: PG (two chaste kisses & an alcoholic father); Violence: G BUYING ADVISORY: MS - ADVISABLE AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE 12yo Genuine Sweet of tiny Sass, Georgia is a fourth-generation wish-fetcher -- able to call down the magic of the stars to grant others' wishes. Unfortunately, she can't grant her own wishes, which means she's stuck living with her alcoholic father in a tired, run-down house filled with overdue notices and not enough food. When she hits upon a scheme to use the wish-fetcher magic to better her own life as well as others', she knows she's courting disaster; but is it really fair for everyone to be happy and have their wishes granted...everyone except Genuine Sweet herself? I love this book. Genuine is a relatable character who makes understandable mistakes. Her Southern voice is delightful, and the town of Sass comes alive in her descriptions. The magical realism also adds an element of intrigue to the story, as do her frequent hints that her choices will eventually lead to big problems. The cover is a bit unfortunate because, pretty though it is, it makes the book look as if it were for a younger audience than it truly is; this might discourage some from picking it up. Those who enjoyed A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd will likely enjoy this one as well. Sydney G., K-6 Library Media Specialist

Title: Dirty Love Author: Kimberly Blalock Genre: Contemporary Romance Cover Design: EDGE PR and Design Release Date: September 26, 2016 Blurb In the light of darkness is an undeniable need to run, disappear, slither away only barely scraping by with hope that maybe just maybe, there's a way of escape. My name is Oliva Basari. I escaped one hell only to be trapped inside another, darkness and fear seething through my veins and invading my every thought. A new city, a new job, a new persona and then.... I fell in lust, I fell in love…hell, I just fell. From the darkness my alter ego became real, I was Tess, the stirring of someone or something else burning in my gut until she was all there was. I didn't fear what would happen if remorse knocked on my door nor did I fear the lustful way I stalked them, preyed upon them—the ones that couldn't have me, the ones who wished they could taste me—I was their darkness until I met one very tall, dark, and forbiddingly handsome Mr. Black. He hated me watching with darkness in his tormented eyes. He scared me, intimidated me, and left me questioning my own sanity. Until he didn't. He was the one thing I let myself submit too, his touch, the way he slid his knuckles across my flesh, igniting a dangerous spark inside of me. In the end, we're all captured souls waiting for release or the escape from our own maniacal thoughts. In the end, we are all prisoners of the flesh. Tiffany Tudwell is cursed. She once tripped over a backpack and fell face-first into a trashcan. She had pink eye on picture day. Until the night two meteors collide over her backyard giving Tiffany the ability to steal people’s talents for a day—like stealing mean girl Candace’s beautiful singing voice in the middle of play rehearsal, or drawing an incredible self-portrait after borrowing the teacher’s pencil. This is a subject-verb-object activity to target: Syntax (word order) Gender identification (boy/girl) Pronouns (He/She not used in this deck but you can work on labeling he/she) Actions Nouns What...doing questions Combining words Sentence expansion Increasing MLU (mean length of utterance) This is also a great introduction (or supplement to) AAC! As you drag each one into the corresponding box, the voice output is activated. Then, you can click on each picture to hear the sentence again, if you wish. The real photographs aid in comprehension of word meaning and symbol recognition. I chose these sentences because they are functional and likely will be seen in any child's daily life. I target generalization by using one verb for several nouns, for example You can play blocks, you can play guitar, and you can play piano OR You can cook eggs and you can cook meat.
