The kiddos are sooo excited about this "NEW" material. We are truly on an EXPLORATION! I love it when their eyes light up in AWE about what they are hearing from GOD'S Word. Our recent lesson was about GOD calling Samuel. I reminded the kiddos that GOD did NOT speak directly to the Fathers (as HE had done during the Patriarchal time) because, HE had given Moses HIS Law for the Hebrews. So, when GOD called Samuel it was a VERY SPECIAL EVENT! Our TAKE HOME activity was Samuel in bed. The children LOVED being able to slide Samuel's eyes open and shut. As they pulled the top slide Samuel's eyes opened and the Scripture reference "Speak Lord for your servant's listening..." 1 Samuel 3, would appear on the bedding. Each of the kiddos bed looked different...I love it when the girls choose PINK for bedding and the boys choose BLUE! So typical! LOL I decided this would be an appropriate Memory Verse...We ALL have ears and we ALL need to be listening to GOD'S WORD! We sang the Memory Verse to the tune: "B-I-N-G-O." Most of the kiddos had the verse memorized before leaving the classroom. I know I sang it ALL week long. There is something about putting verses to a familiar tune that helps with memorizing them. If you have NEVER tried putting a verse to a childhood tune, I suggest you give it a try....you will be amazed at how easy it is to memorize Scripture this way. Our Review/Game was a LISTENING GAME. I purchased the little cups and the Yellow/Red Game pieces at the Dollar Tree. (The game pieces came out of a TOPPLE type game.) I wrote a song for this lesson called, "God Was Calling Samuel." I sang the song to the children...each time they heard me sing "GOD" they had to put a yellow game piece in their cup. Each time they heard me sing "Samuel" they had to put a red game piece in their cup. THEY LOVED THIS GAME!!!!!! They wanted to play it OVER and OVER and OVER again!!!!! So, we decided to change out the "What to listen for..." I was sort of surprised at how much they LOVED playing this. This is one game I will try to work into other lessons! I LOVE it when something so inexpensive is soooo effective!!! Our EAA, which stands for EARLY ARRIVAL ACTIVITY was the WHITE BOARDS/DRAWING activity. (I really need to post some of the pictures that they have drawn.) The LOVE drawing on the personal sized white boards...so, I am going to keep it up for a few more Sunday's .....However, I did include some of the MILK CAP MANIA....and they WHIZZED right through them!!!! I was soooo pleased with how many of the kiddos are REMEMBERING what they have learned!!!! The EEAs allow me to "TEST" the kiddos knowledge....and let me know if I need to review something, correct something or even re-teach something. My EAA's have to have a purpose...or I would NOT use them. I never want something to STEAL away my precious 45 minutes of teaching time! On Wednesday Evening the kiddos colored a picture of Samuel in bed. They added the bedpost (colored craft sticks) and a POP-UP speech bubble with "Samuel, Samuel" on it. Again, the differences in each of their activities is so unique to their personality. Some of the girl's added flowers to the blanket....and one of the boy's made his blanket have a camouflage type pattern. I LOVE their unique individuality!!! GOD blesses me ro richley through these little ones! For a VISUAL aid I decided to make a LARGE version of the TAKE HOME project....The kiddos LOVED pulling the slide on this one.... I used it while telling the story...I believed this helped the kiddos when it came time to make their own...they had already seen this work so the knew what to do. When I can't find a VISUAL aid in my resources, clip art, or FREE online, I will MAKE IT MYSELF...LOL We have already been so busy. The kiddos amaze me each week.... Our main review questions this week were: Who was the Strong Judge? Who was the Judge after Samson? What other "job's" did Eli have? Who was Samuel's mom? Who was Samuel's dad? Where did Hannah go to pray? What did Eli think about Hannah when he saw her praying? In what city was the Tabernacle? What did Hannah promise GOD? Did Hannah keep her promises? What did Hannah bring Samuel each year? Can children be servants to the LORD? They knew ALL the answers!!!!!! I was soooo pleased!!!!! I feel soooo blessed to be a BIBLE CLASS teacher!!!! Next week we will be going on a "KING HUNT." Blessings, Ronda

This week, I am knee deep in stories of love, rape and revenge. It is a much needed reminder that our actions have real consequences.
There are times we ask for something small when God wants to bless us with something great. Use this object lesson to teach children Acts 3.
The Tower of Babel is a short lesson, so I created a cut & glue worksheet that can be used to discuss the things that we should build our life on that God wants. To go with the building theme, I have the cutest toolbox and tools for you! It can be used for any lesson and the kids are going to LOVE it! The people in the lesson wanted to build the tower as a monument to themselves, but God wants expects us to live for Him. Also, at the beginning of the lesson, I had cards printed with Hello in different languages, and we all talked at the same time. That's not a new idea, but one I have done every time I teach this lesson! Review: Last week we studied Noah. The people on earth were so sinful, that God decided to destroy the earth. He wanted to save Noah because of his faithfulness, so God told Noah to build an ark, so Noah did. No complaining, or whining, he just did it! It took him and his three sons 120 years to build it. When it was finished, the animals went into the ark, Noah and his wife, their three sons: Shem, Ham, Japheth and their wives went in. God closed the door and it rained. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and there was water on the earth for 150 days. When it was dry, they came out, and Noah made an altar and offered sacrifices to God. God put a rainbow in the sky and said it was a reminder of His promise that He would never destroy the earth by water again. FYI: 1.) Babel is like the Hebrew word for confusion & 2.) there are 2800 known different languages in the world now. Lesson is found in Genesis 11:1-9: Today we are going to learn about what happened after the flood. God didn’t like the sinfulness of the people in the world, do you think they changed? Well, over time, each of Noah’s sons had children, and so on. That is in chapter 10 of Genesis. Noah is still alive, and chapter 11 tells us that the whole earth had one language and over time, they moved from the east and lived in a valley in the land of Shinar. (Shine’ ar) God had told the people to multiply and spread out over all the land. But they just went one direction and lived in one area. The people talked to each other and decided to make bricks and bake them carefully. They said “Let’s build a city with a tower that will reach the heavens. We will make a name for ourselves!” They wanted everyone to know how great they were! But when God came to see the city and their tower, He didn’t like what they were doing. They had one language, and they were not using it to praise God, they wanted men to praise them for their city! God decided to ‘confuse their language’, that means that now there are all different languages, and nobody could understand what the next person was saying! Think about how confusing that would be. “Hey, hand me that brick.” Blah, blah, what are you saying? It made it impossible for them to finish the project, just like God intended. They stopped building the city and they spread out all over the earth. So, the place was called Babel, because God confused the language and the people moved to other parts of the earth. Something to think about, we discussed in class that these people didn't do what God wanted, they were not building the tower to please God, they wanted the glory and praise of men. God didn't like it. We talked more about Noah from last week, and Noah built the boat just as God told him to. Maybe, Noah wanted to use different wood, or thought there should be more than one window, but he did it exactly as God told him to, and it saved his family. God told us exactly what He wants for worship. We are here to worship Him, not be entertained. God has given the instructions to follow for worship... How do you think God feels when we don't worship Him like we are instructed? I used language cards and handed them out to everyone. I said 'Hello!' and asked them to read their cards. Then, I had everyone just mumble at the same time to see how confusing it all was. This was so fun! These have been updated. Each word or phrase has the English word at the top. The translation language is on the left side with the translated word(s) in the box at the bottom. They are all black and white. These are easy to use and print. There is a blank page to add your own words or to let the student write their own (if you have wi-fi). You can also type in your own words at Google Translate (if you have wi-fi) and listen to the languages. If you have anyone that speaks a different language, ask them to come in and talk to the students. It doesn't even matter what they say because they cannot understand it anyway! Our assistant speaks Spanish, so we just talked. She kept saying things, and I said I don't understand and there was a lot of hand waving. That was a lot of fun and put it in perspective for them. Click here to download the language cards. This is the project I made for this lesson. I wanted something about building but building to please God. I just added a general title on this so it could be used for other lessons also. You can print the teacher's copy which looks like the photo, all finished. For the students, all the blocks are on the second page for them to cut out and glue to the title page. This is intended to be used as a conversation starter on what God wants from us, with a couple of blank spots for them to fill in. Prayer & worship would be good to fill in the blanks but see what is discussed and add your choices. Student: Color B/W This is how the first cuts for the toolbox should look. You cut off the extra around the two end handles, BUT you DO NOT cut off the sides! When it is folded, they will be stapled and/or taped together to make the box for the 'tools' that will fit inside. I printed mine on heavy cardstock. After you cut the two top edges off, cut out the rectangles for the two handles. Fold the sides and snip the lines, tow on each side. When you pull the sides up, it will form the toolbox. I stapled the sides together, then used Scotch tape to cover the staples so the kids don't get hurt. The toolbox is black & white, to be printed on your choice of cardstock. You can print it here: Color B/W Spanish: Color B/W Spanish translation @ http://translate.google.com/ Special thanks to Christy Lampley for the extra help with the Spanish translation correction! I appreciate it! I also added these construction hats. I had them for a different lesson, but decided they really needed to be with the cute toolboxes! I printed what I needed, one for the front and one for the back onto cardstock. I cut them out and put them through my Xyron Sticker Maker and everything matches! You can print the labels here. You can purchase the construction hats here. Click here to print. Click here to download the updated visuals. Click here to download the pictures to color. Today was the beginning of our new "Theme." We are Exploring the Armor of God. Paul wrote the Letter to the brethren in Ephesus. They lived under the Roman Government and were completely aware of the Armor a Soldier wore. The kiddos were excited to get started with this new topic. However, I was asked SEVERAL times...."are we going to finish the Judges and learn about the Kings?" They are so smart!!! After lots of reassurance we went on with our new topic. I had the kiddos put on the Explorer Hats today and we sang the song. "We Are Bible Explorers." The kiddos love marching around the room as we sing this song. We then went right on with my lesson plans. We added a BEE to their attendance charts as we sang our attendance song. We then talked about Prayer and how we are to be REVERENT during prayer. We then said our prayer. Then we did some Basic Bible Review and Songs. This is when we say our Books of the Bible. Review how many book are in the Bible, how many main parts, how many book in the Old/New, etc. This is when I told them that our lesson was from the New Testament. I told the kids it came from the Ephesian Epistle (telling them that they would impress their parents if they remembered that an Epistle is a fancy word for a letter.) I then showed them where Ephesus and Rome are on our NEW classroom map. (I forgot to take a picture of the map...I will make sure to get one next week.) I explained that Paul loved the Christians that lived in Ephesus and wanted them to be strong. I then went on with the lesson about Armor. Our main focus was on the BELT OF TRUTH today. We talked about our need for listening to TRUTH. We talked about how the devil is filled with lies and is our enemy...and God's Word will help us defeat our enemy. Our activity was a cardstock BELT OF TRUTH. They were so cute wearing these as they left the classroom. Our Memory Verse was Ephesians 6:14. We had a little tune to sing the memory verse too. I LOVE to have a song to go with their memory verses. I think it helps them to memorize the verse. Our Review Activity was a fun experience. I coded a cube (old empty cardboard box) with all the pieces of the Armor of God. The kiddos had to answer a question from the story for an opportunity to roll the cube. Whatever piece of Armor the cube landed on the children added that to their "soldier." The boys had a boy soldier and the girls had a girl soldier. They seemed to enjoy this game. If they do not get the answer correct I use that as the opportunity to correct any misunderstanding. BTW, this was a cheap game to make. This is the cube...I covered the box with blue poster paper and then attached the Armor pieces. We had our Who? What? When? Where? Where? Why? and How? cards. And we had a card to add to our God's Awesome Plan for Man wall. I really think this is an important part of ALL Bible stories. This is our NEW Theme Bulletin Board. On Wednesday Evening the kiddos will be "designing" their Belt of Truth. They will glue on sequins after coloring their belt. They will then add the little Bible to their belt...since the BELT OF TRUTH is the WORD OF GOD. I am looking forward to teaching this material. I know the children really were excited this morning. I hope they are always excited about learning lessons from God's Word. Blessings, Ronda
