This is not a physical item. When you order, you will receive a link to download your collection shortly. Myths and Legend are everywhere. This series of rare books is a wealth of characters, places and ideas in modern culture that you never knew were based on myth. From characters in movies, to pop stars, to the names of products. You will be shocked to discover how much myth has influenced modern times. Myth and lore are literally everywhere you go. The vast majority of these books are out of print. The art works you will find in these books are as rare as rare gets. I personally feel that there is more to learn about a culture through understanding their myths, rather than their history books. You will learn much about the nature and motivation of men, as well as, the beliefs of some of the most powerful. We have every culture covered in this collection. If I knew that 9 years ago I could just pay $15 rather than doing years and years of research and work, I would have easily taken advantage of this. Let my hard work be your gain for a very small fee. The Occult University Library is a collection of rare books and ancient/sacred texts, lectures, audio books and instructionals that I have personally collected or scanned over the years. Many of these works are scans of books that cost thousands or more for the original, and many more can no longer be found for sale. The total value of these collections is well over $100,000, but to the true seeker of knowledge, these books are priceless. All book scans are in PDF format so they can be read on Ipads, E-readers, Kindle, Android Tablets, Mac and PC’s. This type of literature is much too important to just download random word processed files off of the internet, as most people do. Many of those ebooks have typos, missing pages, deletions, and many more are purposely altered. With our scans, the text is in the right place, just as the author intended, as well as any artwork. You never know if some books are coded, or may be examined with a compass & square, for instance. Since the average age of these books is 150 years, there are no copyrights. This presents amazing opportunity. You may print and bind your own books for resale, or just build your own physical library. The majority of these scans have texts files in them, so you can easily copy the text in order to print in quality. You can even use your own artwork. The possibilities are endless. Again, this is not a physical item. This collection is close to 4GB of data. Make sure you have enough space for it. Upon completion of your order, please allow up to 24 hours to receive a link for your download. Visit OULbooks.com for much more. Thank you!

The Book of Symbols combines original and incisive essays about particular symbols with representative images from all parts of the world and all eras of history. The highly readable texts and over 800 beautiful full-color images come together in a unique way to convey hidden dimensions of meaning. Each of the 350 essays examines a given symbol’s psychic background, and how it evokes psychic processes and dynamics. Etymological roots, the play of opposites, paradox and shadow, the ways in which diverse cultures have engaged a symbolic image―all these factors are taken into consideration. Authored by writers from the fields of psychology, religion, art, literature, and comparative myth, the essays flow into each other in ways that mirror the psyche’s unexpected convergences. There are no pat definitions of the kind that tend to collapse a symbol; a still vital symbol remains partially unknown, compels our attention and unfolds in new meanings and manifestations over time. Rather than merely categorize, The Book of Symbols illuminates how to move from the visual experience of a symbolic image in art, religion, life, or dreams to directly experiencing its personal and psychological resonance. The Book of Symbols sets new standards for thoughtful exploration of symbols and their meanings, and will appeal to a wide range of readers: artists, designers, dreamers and dream interpreters, psychotherapists, self-helpers, gamers, comic book readers, religious and spiritual searchers, writers, students, and anyone curious about the power of archetypal images. Hook your students on history with this engaging and colorful presentation on Ancient Greece. This slide show is designed to make students active and enthusiastic learners. It is a great presentation to use when introducing your students to the parent civilizations of the Ancient Greeks. This presentation covers: Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economics, and Social Structure in the Minoan and Mycenae civilizations of Ancient Greece. Let your students be archaeologists exploring the Ancient Greek ruins on the island of Crete. This colorful slide show enables students to critically think about and analyze the 1900 excavation by Arthur Evans. Throughout the presentation your students will: -Use observation skills to make predictions -Verify conclusions -Analyze data -Critically think about information -Discuss and debate opinions Closely aligned with ELA Common Core Standards for Literacy in History and Social Studies this presentation features: -academic vocabulary -reflection -pair share and class discussions -graphic writing organizers -academic writing activities -standards' based review questions with answers The Minoans and the Mycenaean have long since faded into myth; but their legacy lives on in Greece. Much of the Minoan History is read as a picture book. We have their frescoes, artifacts, and ruins but little of their writing. So this is fantastic opportunity to expose students to a new way of learning—observation, guided questions, reflection, followed with immediate confirmation. This presentation is geared towards letting the students be archaeologists as the ruins on Crete are excavated. For the 1st quarter of the presentation the students are led slide by slide through excavation. Using observation, guided questions, and reflection the students will learn analytical skills. They will compare their observations of the Minoan ruins, artifacts, and frescoes with that of the archaeologists, historians and scholars. As an added bonus is a separate writing prompt using the Spice Gathering fresco found in the ruins of Thera when the island was destroyed by a volcano wiping out the Minoan civilization. The next half of the presentation covers Minoan dare devil sports, religion, myths, international economic trade products and the cataclysm that knocked their civilization out. The Mycenaean Civilization concludes the presentation. They replaced the Minoans as the regional economic powerhouse. They are the ones who fought a ten year war over a women. Their exploits and architecture are nothing short of amazing. This presentation lays a solid foundation for your unit on Ancient Greece. It hooks the students and keeps them engaged from beginning to end. There are ample opportunities for dialog, academic reflection, writing, and combining interdisciplinary content from language arts, history, economics, and fine arts. It is highly engaging for students from middle school to high school. This presentation on Ancient Greece includes the following presentations on the Minoan and Mycenae civilizations: ANCIENT GREECE: The Minoan Civilization ANCIENT GREECE: Minoan Economics during the Bronze Age ANCIENT GREECE: the Mycenaean Civilization (I have made available a free excerpt of these discussion questions for you to examine— Minoan Frescos on this site) Minoan Frescoes Product format: PowerPoint Show made with Microsoft 10 Features include: slide sorter, laser pointer, digital pen, high lighter, and presenter’s notes. Week 6: We made runes. The Celts had a rich tradition of oral storytelling. The history of their land and people was preserved from generation to generation through druids who were expert story tellers. Once the Celts came into contact with other cultures a system of runic writing developed. There were several different runic alphabets used by northern European people. We got the chance to make our own runes using air dry clay, toothpicks and other dough type tools. A sample alphabet was printed so the kids had something to decode. To read more about our homeschool history co-op activities one of the cultures below. Celts Vikings Scythians Ancient China This post is linked to: Reading Confetti Hearts for Home

Our second block of the fifth grade school year was Ancient Cultures, which combined language arts, history, social studies and geography. As an aside, anytime we are not in a math block we always start our day with some math practice on the board, so that those skills do not get forgotten. Our first area of focus was India and it covered two weeks. As usual, we began by mapping India and studying the indigenous plants and animals. We learned the origin story Manu and the Flood. We found references to Atlantis and compared it to Noah's ark. For any of the myths or history stories, we follow a two day schedule of learning. On the first day I tell the story, usually with a chalk drawing I have prepared, and Jack will make a main lesson page drawing. On the following day he will retell the story, in his own words, while we work on language mechanics. Some days he just writes, but if it is a complicated story I may help him make an outline first to make sure we don't leave out any crucial information. We found a beautiful version of the Ramayana in the book A Year Full of Stories. We really enjoyed learning about the faith of India through the Bhagavad-Gita and comparing it to our own values. \ Since the boys are in the school room together, they often hear parts of their brother's main lessons. Will was halfway paying attention to the story of Rama and Sita when he heard mention of the Monkey King, Hanuman. I guess the idea of a Monkey King proved irresistible to Will and he immediately had to drop his own project and get his vision on paper! This is one of my favorite things about homeschooling: that we have the space for this kind of work. Our third week of study focused on Buddha. Again, we compared our own values and faith with The Eightfold Path and the Noble Truths. For our final week of study, we spent the first day mapping Persia. The following day we covered Zarathustra. Again, this was a great opportunity to compare and contrast all of these world religions with our own. How wonderful to see so many core values in common. Later in the week we looked at Xerxes and the wars with Greece. Jack is excited to get to the Ancient Greece block (thanks, Percy Jackson!), so he was eager to hear mention of Sparta. We may have taken more of a Greek focus than was intended, but it's nice to have the student so eager!

Iran is a multi-ethnic country that is home to a diversity of languages, ethnic groups, and religions. So why do people think its a "Persian" country? The roots of this misconception lie in an ideology called Aryanism promoted by the Pahlavi Dynasty to homogenize the country.View Post
