PLEASE READ! The unit is unpainted and unassembled but comes with clear instructions. This allows you to set the code that will unlock it and change that code whenever you wish. It also allows you to determine how difficult the puzzle will be, based on how many (and which) buttons must be pressed to open the orb. Finally, it allows you to paint the parts before assembly. You can choose between Runes or Egyptian Hieroglyphs. If printed with resin, some internal parts will still be FDM for better long-term durability. Treat yourself or your gamers to the experience of life-sized props. They are perfect for cosplay and LARP events, as well as for RPG gaming such as D&D, Pathfinder and more. Also works great in escape rooms! You can give the object to your players and scatter clues through the game that point to how to unlock it and access the inside. You have your choice of materials: * Eco-Resin is gray in color, plant-based and therefore more eco-friendly. It gives the sharpest details. However, it is also fairly brittle and small parts are easily broken. It is therefore best for pieces that won't receive a lot of handling. It's also more economical for large pieces and works fine with them as they don't typically have as many fine, breakable elements. * FDM is the least expensive option and the most durable. However, it cannot be printed in a translucent color. There may be some minor scarring on bottom-facing surfaces in cases where supports are necessary to get a perfect print. Item price is determined by the amount of material required for printing. * The model is unpainted and unprimed. * The model requires assembly. * While support marks are often visible under the base, they are virtually impossible to spot on the parts of the model that will be seen. We also remove all supports prior to shipping, although you may occasionally find a micro-support that was missed somewhere. If so, it will be easily removed with tweezers. At Wonder World Prints, we compete on quality; not price. While there may be some minor imperfections in the product due to the inherent nature of 3D printing, we will not send to you any piece that we would not be happy with ourselves. We carefully package everything that we ship, but sometimes the carriers aren't kind in their handling of parcels. If an assembled product arrives damaged, we will replace it. Rotating Pythagorean Theorem Proof with Water! Amazing demonstration of a well know, but little understood theorem! This is printed in PLA, with acrylic on the faces secured with cured UV resin in order to make it watertight. Measurements: back wheel is 100 mm in diameter. FILLING (SHIPS UNFILLED but with a pipette for filling included): Picturef filled with just water, no food color. Add color for best affect. I have found that the best to fill the wheel with is water and around a teaspoon or less of isopropyl alcohol. This is to break the surface tension of the water to better flow through the holes. This is achieved by using a pipette and forcing the water through the back hole which has an outlet into the “a squared” section of the model. Hold the wheel in your left hand with "c" down, it takes me about 4 pipette squeezes to fill (make sure no air is on the end of the pipette). Then a drop or 2 of food coloring into the hole. It can be tricky your first time though. The water / alcohol mixture does evaporate over the course of a couple hours so refilling is necessary to achieve the desired proof affect. Ships unfilled. DISCLAIMER: Due to the nature of 3D printing and assembly process (water proofing) some products may have different surface finishes and slightly differing colors. They are all acceptable and do not interfere with function, but all have their own quirks and personalities. Days until shipped tends to be shorter than stated, but due to being a full time teacher, sometimes I need the flexibility. Lesson Plan / Style of lesson that I intend to use this with: I have for many years used the gif of this same thing found online, and I allow my students to explore and “notice and wonder” about the gif and then make the connection with them that “a that was turned into a square combined with b that is turned into a square is equals c that has been turned into a square” This always prompts a better understanding than just showing the theorem and telling them how to use it. Understanding how to use the theorem comes next but I really wanted to have a physical representation to put into their hands. I have printed and used 1 model per group. I separated my class into groups of 4, which means a class set of 7. I also used 1 large model for display purposes. I have the ability to make one that is 275 mm (approx 10.5 in) in diameter, posted in another Etsy listing (listing coming soon).
