One of my favorite times of the year is the last quarter! Their excitement level is through the roof. And summer fever is beginning to set in! Since in my district when they leave Pre-K they leave my building, we try to fit in as much fun and as many memories as we can! The big even we do, is Pre-K Graduation. This year we are doing a Hollywood, “Reach for the Stars” theme. I am fortunate enough to work with Oriental Trading, then sent me all the goodies to do our graduation! Things You Need: LGold and Silver Star Centerpiece Large Gold Foil Fringe Door Curtain Movie Night Doorway Rope Movie Night Red Aisle Runner Personalized Movie Night Marquee Arch Sign Red Plastic Tablecloth Roll White and Gold Patterned Hanging Paper Lantern We are so lucky to have a giant stage where we have our graduation. We used Red Plastic Tablecloth Roll to create a background and then added Large Gold Foil Fringe Door Curtain to the front. We hung Red Plastic Tablecloth Roll to create a draped curtain behind our podium. I love the Personalized Movie Night Marquee Arch Sign that we got. It really made our graduation special! Here is a link to my article from last year. It has a link to the PowerPoint. We create a book. Talking about the best part of PreK. Then we scan them and create a PowerPoint. The parents love it! After our ceremony, we have a little party. We have drinks and cookies and popcorn! This is a perfect opportunity to take pictures and talk to each family.

So first day back after Spring Break and I got myself one compliment and one insult!!! One of the firsties from the classroom next door came over to me after recess and said, "Nice jacket Ms. Nicole." I'm wearing my new Spring leather and couldn't be happier about it! So, I answer the little firstie, "Thanks, you like it?" To which she then replies, "Yes, I didn't like your other one though." I nearly fell over laughing! This was just too cute! I really love working with kids. They really do say the "darndest" things sometimes! I also love the fact that we can sing songs and act silly! I spent some time looking for Superhero songs for my new unit, as I like to incorporate singing and dancing in language arts. Come on, surely I'm not the only one! I was really only able to find one that was suitable. Please leave me a comment, if you can tell me where I can find some more, as we really do like to sing during our morning routine! So I found a great song by Richard Graham and also found a website that plays a video of the song. You can show it to your kiddies on the SmartBoard and it will also give you the opportunity to learn the tune to for the song! Find the video right HERE! I decided to make a Superhero themed song sheet for the kiddies to place in their folder. Here it is... You can grab yourself a copy right over HERE! If you do know where I can find more songs like this one for my unit, please leave me a comment! I would greatly appreciate it! Of course, you can also comment if you don't have any song info! Looking forward to reaching 100 followers... Will plan something special to celebrate it! Until next time... Ms. Nicole xo

This is our quick and easy homemade macaroni and cheese recipe. It’s extra saucy and very creamy. It’s made on the stovetop and does not require any baking. That’s not to say that you could not bake it. We’ve shared how in the recipe below. Cream cheese is optional but adds tanginess and even more creaminess to the sauce. *In the video, we add the cream cheese after the cheddar, but since sharing and testing again, we now prefer to the cream cheese before the cheddar.

Recently, Metro Luxe Events Candice Vallone produced a fabulous Jungle Safari Birthday party for a special little boy. The party was held at the Detroit Zoological Society where guests enjoyed various zoo excursions and fun rides before celebrating in our Safari themed Tent for lunch, entertainment and birthday wishes. With only one month to plan for over 125 guests and a very large empty tent to design, we pulled out all stops to create a magical jungle escape for the birthday boy and his guests to enjoy. Our design inspiration came from the Zoo life itself; tropical floral and green foliage, different and unique animals, rustic outdoor elements and an imagination of going on a wild safari trip. The invitation suite was designed by couture invitation designer Celeste Simpson of Impress Me Designs. Guests were called to the party with a beautiful Passport Invitation, inviting them to embark on the birthday boy’s safari excursion. With their zoo excursions complete, guests arrived to the Tent for a delectable lunch and were greeted by various entertainment acts as well as life size Giraffes, Elephants and Water feature vignettes. Safari Hats placed at each setting were given to further enhance the jungle safari festivities. A candy store inspired candy buffet for guests to indulge in was designed by our Metro Luxe Events Executive Chef Daniel, for guests to fill their bags to take home as a memento of the day’s events. The delicious Cake was designed using the animal print theme throughout, featuring life like edible bamboo shoots and glitter dusted fondant leafs, grass and rock boulders to accent. To end this magical safari journey, guests joined a magician in singing and wishing the birthday boy happy birthday. Candles were blown out, with all his wishes sealed and the safari trip was complete. Metro Luxe Events Candice Vallone believes that the event stationary should all compliment and become a full stationery suite. Using the safari themed elements from the passport invitation, we created a fun Thank You card to send to guests for gratitude in joining this wild celebration! **A special thank you to Mari Latozas, Photography by Mari; who captured the Jungle Safari Journey and provided the above pictures.
