Welcome to the January 2020 Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. You are currently visiting Karen Farquhar from Australia and this month's theme is 'Case a Card'. Artisan Jackie Aitken and her beautiful Painted Poppies cards Although my cards aren't exactly the same I have chosen the stamp set Painted Poppies the layouts, the colours and certain elements Jackie has used for her cards. These cards will be featured in my upcoming Stamp Club class. As a part of the January class every year I normally include some form of calendar. This year the ladies will be making this little covered notepad which holds a coordinating Stampin' Up! pen. The inside reveals a the notepad plus a tear-off calendar and a perpetual calendar to record all those important dates such as birthdays and anniversaries to help keep track during the year. I have stamped the covers of the notepad and perpetual calendars with the stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set. The more I play with the Timeless Tropical stamp set, the more I like it. I love the 50's-Hawaiian -surfer vibe it has. The co-ordinating products are lots of fun too. The Coastal Weave embossing folder is getting a lot of use, and I love the Braided Burlap Trim too. I used Pool Party for my background panel, and coloured the hibiscus and frangipanis with Blends. Hello stampers! If you grew up in the eighties like me, chances are that you know Lady in Red by Chris de Burgh. I really do love this song and I also love the colour red. No surprise then that I chose to highlight the colour red in my creations using the Parisian Blossoms suite. Cherry cobbler to be specific, but Lady in Cherry Cobbler doesn't sound quite as catchy, more like a gluttonous mini person caught in a dessert pan! Hello Fabulous Paper Crafters, Dedicated Followers and My Beloved Lurkers, Today we're going to do a bridge card! This card was created as a Make & Take for a quarterly member's meeting. Since I made over 50 kits, I used the 1/2" circle instead of an embellishment, ensured there was minimal stamping and no colouring. The morning of our up-island trip, the highway flooded and we weren't able to make it to the meeting. So if you're part of the #imbringingbirthdaysback group, you'll likely get one of these from me. It is a fun fold! Here are the supplies I used: Happy Birthday To You (Sale-A-Bration stamp set); Birthday Bonaza Designer Series Paper; Bermuda Bay Cardstock; Daffodil Delight Cardstock; and a scrap of a Grapefruit Grove Cardstock; Whisper White Cardstock; Balloon Bouquet Punch; 1/2" Circle Punch; Memento Ink; Basic Black Stampin' Write Marer; and Multipurpose Liquid Glue. For the 50 kits, I actually used the DSP Sample Pack, which you get for FREE when you become a member, and a variety of different card stocks. I'm including a photos of some of the leftover kits to give you some inspiration. I also had one in Smokey Slate, using the stunning grey argyle from the Country Club DSP, but alas they disappeared pretty quickly. Tip: If you purchase a DSP pack, a cardstock pack and the two punches, you'll be able to get the fabulous Happy Birthday to You stamp set for FREE #saleabration. Click on the photo to see everything you need. Trim your Bermuda Bay (main) cardstock to 4 1/4" x 8". In landscape position score and burnish at 1 1/4" and 2 1/2" on both sides. The card base should look sort of like a "w." Cut the Daffodil Delight (coordinating) cardstock to 1 1/4" x 5 1/2" and 2 3/4" x 4". From the Whisper White, you'll need 1" x 5 1/4" and 2 1/2" x 3 3/4". If you want a place to write a personal message make two of this last one. You'll need to cut two pieces of 1" x 4" DSP. Punch out 3 coordinating cardstock balloons - one from Bermuda Bay, one from Daffodil Delight and one from Grapefruit Grove. Glue them to one of the 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" pieces of Whisper White (in portrait position). With the blacker marker, draw the strings and bow. Glue this onto the 2 3/4" x 4" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock. Glue this assembled piece onto the middle of your card base. Attach the DSP strips to the to the outside edges of your card base. Stamp your greeting on the Whisper White strip. Punch out two 1/2" circles and attach them to Whisper White on each side of the greeting. Attach your greeting to the remaining piece of Daffodil Delight and then attach this final piece to the front of your card, near the bottom. Make sure your glue doesn't extend past 1". Repeat for the other side. If you want a place to write a message, attach that piece of Whisper White to the back of the Bermuda Bay. We have used Vellum and Markers to make a stained glass look, this month lets use Vellum and Alcohol Ink. We created beautiful accent pieces for our cards. All you have to do is cut out the Vellum using Dies, color with SU Blends and let dry. Add cardstock accents to the colored shapes by adhering to the vellum. Our first card uses the Peaceful Moments stamp set and Poppy Moments Dies, bundled together to save 10%. I really like the font on the stamp set and the dies are a must have. I really think that the colored vellum and the poppy dies are just beautiful, what do you think? Hello there and welcome to 2020 on the blog! The Just Add Ink team are kicking off the new year with our annual blog hop. It is extra special this year as we are celebrating 10 years and 1000 followers for the Just Add Ink challenges! You may have come from Denita's blog, be starting the blog hop here on my blog, or you can go to Just Add Ink, and then follow the links at the end of each team members blog post on to the next. This year the theme is very appropriately 'Celebrate!'. So many joyful occasions can fall under that theme. For me the first big family event of the year is my daughters birthday, so birthday card it is. I had a blogging break at the end of the last year, and was a bit worried I might be rusty, but the sheer enjoyment of playing with new stuff (TimelessTropical in particular, which ironically was not my first pick from the new SU! mini catalogue) and colouring made putting this card together easier than expected. It really is all about the colouring! I stamped my images in a very light ink and then used SU! Blends (alcohol markers) to no line colour the flowers. I should really have taken step-by-step photos as for most of the process honestly they look pretty ordinary and then at the end the multiple layers of ink, blend and end up looking finished. So my best tip for alcohol marker colouring is to persist and keep adding layers of colour and contrast. Hello Hello Crafty Friends Welcome to the BE INSPIRED BLOG HOP for November. This month the Be Inspired Design Team are sharing creations with a "FEELING FESTIVE" theme. Such a timely challenge if you are anything like me and are still making Christmas Cards like crazy. Living in Western Australia we get to celebrate the festive season during the Summer months and my family and friends love Christmas Cards with a beachy - summery vibe opposed to wintery scenes. The first two cards I have to share today were requested by Hubby - he asked for "cards with no lard" LoL, which basically means clean and simple without too many layers and embellishments. I have inked up images from the Timeless Tropical stamp set for these two cards. I was SOoooOoo stoked when I won this set in Prize Patrol at Onstage. Out of all the sets that were given away on the day I really really wanted this one as I just couldn't wait for preorder!!!! Both cards share the same layout, made to look like a holiday snap of Palm trees. To create the "photo frames" I have simply removed a square from a rectangle piece of Whisper White card. Next, I took a piece of Shimmery White card and sponged Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay inks, then cut it in half and adhered to the "frame" with Tombow. The Palm tree images and flowers were stamped in Memento and coloured using Stampin' Blends. I have white heat embossed the sentiment from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and tucked it under the flowers - which have been attached with mini dimensionals. The next card disregarded Hubby's request for clean and simple!! This one is for me to send one of my crafty friends who will appreciate all the "lard" LoL. This card starts with a piece of Shimmery White card to which I have sponged, Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point inks in layers like they were sand, water and sky. I have then stamped and fussy cut several flowers, pineapples and the Palm trees from Timeless Tropical stamp set and added a few die cut stitched rectangles and Tropical die cuts. Before adhering the card front to the base, I have added some linen twine. To finish the card I added the heat embossed sentiment and a few Holiday Rhinestone jewels in pumpkin pie to the centre of the flowers. That is all from me today.
