2016 Sharing Time Outline Theme: "I Know the Scriptures Are True" September 2016 Sharing Time Topic: The Gospel Will Be Preached in All the World September 2016 Scripture: “This gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” (D&C 133:37). September 2016 Song: Your Choice (Review for Program) September Week 2 Topic: Missionary work blesses everyone. Preparation: Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. Sharing Time Instruction: Ideas 1: Do as the outline suggests and invite some guests from the ward to come and tell the primary kids about their experiences of being a missionary and/or a convert. It might be fun to turn this Sharing Time over to the Ward Missionaries or the Full Time Missionaries. Idea 2: Begin Sharing Time by explaining to the primary children that you have the "Secret to Happiness". Invite the primary children raise their hands if happiness is something they would like. Explain that you want to share this "Secret to Happiness" with them because it is so great and has helped to make your life happy. Explain that you are going to tell the first person in each row this "Secret to Happiness" and you would like them to share it with the person next to them by whispering it into their ear, then that person will whisper it into the person next to them's ear and so on, until everyone has heard the "Secret to Happiness". Go to each row and whisper, "THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST", into the first person of each row's ear. When everyone has heard the "Secret to Happiness", invite everyone to say it out loud, "The Gospel of Jesus Christ". Explain that the Gospel is the greatest thing that can bring happiness into our lives. Wouldn't we want to share this with those around us? Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Missionary Work Blesses EVERYONE". Ask the primary children how they think missionary work blesses everyone? Show the primary children one of the paper cut out dolls. Explain that this person was just taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ by some missionaries. Ask the primary children, How are the missionaries are blessed from sharing the gospel? Read the following scripture to the primary children, D&C 18:15. Explain that the scripture tells us that missionary work brings us JOY. Show the primary children that one person again and explain that this one person, then goes and shares the gospel with their family. Show a few more people and put them on the board. These people share the gospel with their friends, put some more people on the board. And so on and so on. Explain that the whole board could be filled with people, just because the gospel was shared with one person. Kind of like at the beginning of Sharing Time when we whispered the secret to our neighbor and pretty soon everyone in the room knew about the great blessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Invite the primary children to share how being a member of the church has blessed them? Examples might be: It helps us to know right from wrong and making right choices helps us to be happy. We have the scriptures to help us know know how to return to Heavenly Father. We know that when we make mistakes we can repent and be forgiven. We have the great blessing that families can be together forever. We know that we have a Heavenly Father that loves us, that we can pray to Him and He will answer our prayers. ETC.... Invite the primary children to remember all of these blessings throughout the week. All of the blessing we have because of missionary work, somewhere in our family someone accepted the gospel from missionaries. We accept the gospel as we gain a testimony, attend church and are baptized. Invite them to think about how they can bless others as they share the Gospel with them. You may conclude with how missionary work has blessed your own life. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that these ideas were helpful. Below are the other topics for the month's as well as more ideas and resources. If you like these ideas, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram for more ideas. Perfect for Australia Day or any Geography/History unit. This resource is suitable for Prep to Year 3. Finally... an Australia Day resource for younger students!! In this zipped folder you will find: • ‘Let’s Celebrate Australia’ – a 30 page PDF to work through with the class (cannot be edited). This is a lesson that briefly talks about the history of Australia Day and presents photo stimuli as a talking point of things that are special to Australians. • Teacher resource file containing: photo cards to print and distribute during lesson (I colour print and laminate to re-use year after year!) • “What Australia Means to Me…” craftivity, including template and example. The craftivity is a cork hat where students write about what is special to them about Australia on each of the corks. These make an awesome display, hanging from overhead wires in the classroom! Since doing planners for RS, Primary and YW the last few years... I've a zillion requests for an Activity Days one (which is a religious, goal-setting program for 8-11 year old girls in the LDS Church). Until now, I haven't had the time to sit down and sketch it out (much less design it) - so I was thrilled to finally get it done. It's 82 pages and is packed full of organizational goodness! Also... just to qualify myself so you know I know what it needed to include - I've been an Activity Days Leader twice + with the perspective of having been a Primary President and a mom with 2 girls in the program... I think this turned out super awesome and I'm excited to walk you through it! * Looking for PRIMARY, RS or YW Planners instead? Activity Days Planner {HERE} Activity Planning is probably one of the most important roles of an Activity Day Leader. Where possible, groups should meet twice monthly and the leaders should prepare creatively planned and enriching activities to help the girls learn, grow and pass off "activities" in their books. So first, I created monthly sections that contain dated calendars for 2015 (+ sections for Sept-Dec 2014) and two one-page activity planners. The "Activity Planners" have a space for thoughtfully outlining and preparing each activity, tracking to do's, notes, reminders, expenses, etc. Next to the activities themselves, probably the most important thing is tracking the girls' progress. I created two sections to do this - first an "Individual Progress Tracker" section, then "Group Progress Tracker" charts so the leader can have a more bird's-eye view of where everyone stands with their achievements - which can aid in planning future activities. In addition, there are annual activity planning sheets for 2015 & 2016, annual at-a-glance calendars for 2015 & 2016 + rosters, birthdays, attendance, budget pages and more (each in it's own section). And... of course, this planner also comes with a set of coordinating divider tabs to make navigating your planner quick and easy. You can print your tabs on regular paper or card stock, fold and staple to adhere - OR you can print on full sheet sticker paper, punch, fold and adhere that way. I always design the interior pages in black and white to keep printing costs down, so the tabs definitely add a fun splash of color. The tabs with this planner are 1 inch square - and as you can see from the picture, I punched mine with a 1" square scalloped punch. Similar instructions are also included with the printable, but that's the basic idea. TIPS for TABS: You can trim your tabs with scissors - or you can find these types of punches at any craft or scrapbooking store. You can also find them on Amazon, I prefer either EK Tools or Fiskars Brand punches for reference. I also ran a strip of clear packing tape over my tabs before punching them out, this makes them nice and shiny + lots more durable for a full year of use. TIP for COVERS: The covers are designed for "borderless" printing. On your home printer, when you hit print and the properties box opens - select your "borderless" option in Advanced Settings + check the "fit" box so the image spreads properly on the page and isn't shrunk. This can also be requested at a copy center. I print my covers on glossy photo paper, then laminate for durability. When everything is printed - you can either 3-hole punch and add to a regular binder or can have it spiral bound at your favorite copy store. DON'T FORGET TO USE A COUPON!
