Whale oil had previously dominated the market but was unsustainable given the appalling number of animals killed in order to provide power. The country quickly transitioned to fossil fuels, swapping one harmful and extractive practice for another. While whaling had its economic implications, it also birthed a largely nautical art form known as scrimshaw, or engravings in bone or ivory. More

About Image Restoration We have been digitally restoring vintage and antique art and photography for over 15 years, and exercise varying degrees of restoration work for each piece. Nearly all old images require restoration, some are quite challenging, but we like to take into account the aesthetics and mood of each piece before working on it. Certain images we restore completely so they look as close as possible to the way they did when first created, others we like to keep in a more aged state, restoring only to a point where we feel it preserves the atmosphere of the work, and it's place in time.

We don’t know what exact magic is carried by a rhyming sequence of words, but no one would ever deny that it is just there. Something truly majestic happens when you take some words, rhyme them, hide a deeper meaning between the lines, and then share those delicious words with like-minded people. It’s like the same bland words shine anew, and even such a simple word as a potato might now sound like something ethereal, meaningful, and purely awe-inspiring. However, as you can see, our thesis on poetry is a bit simplistic, so why don’t we check out what some slightly more experienced people had to say about this phenomenon of language? A good place to start analyzing the power of the verse would be, of course, our list of the most interesting poetry quotes that we’ve gathered from all around the internet.
