This generously proportioned English Oak Wainscot Chair dates from the latter half of the 17th Century. It is of good colour and patination and stands well. Beautifully simple, original carving to the top rail and light decoration to the top of the arms.

A well proportioned 17th century antique oak coffer. The antique oak coffer has a three panel hinged lid (retaining its original hinges) which opens to reveal a generous sized interior. To the front of the antique oak coffer are beautiful detailed carvings. Raised on stile feet. Item Ref; M-4078 . DIMENSIONS: Height – 64cm / Width – 108cm / Depth – 52.5cm . CONDITION REPORT: In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches, stains and shrinkage splits to the lid (pictured). There are marks, scratches, dents and fading to the wood around the sides, front and back which adds to its characteristics and does not affect the overall integrity of the item. There is evidence of historic woodworm, however this is now long gone and has since been fully treated as a precaution. The antique oak coffer remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a good example of 17th century antique furniture. Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home! A late 17th century, ca. 1680-1700, English oak stretcher base table with a breadboard ended plank top. Baluster legs support the apron of the table, the apron decorated with fine compass drawn incised carving. Beautiful quarter sawn figure to the boards of the top. Tables like this were used as dining tables together with benches or stools as seating. Good antique condition, with signs of age, especially to the feet and stretchers which have worming and wear from feet resting on the rails. One foot with a rustic splice repair, worming to the feet. A Good 17th Century Style Oak Joint Stool
This is a unique and monumental Dutch Baroque cupboard called “Kussenkast" from the late 17th century, probably circa 1670 - 1680. Made of rosewood, ebony and ebonised wood veneered on solid oak. This elegant and rich cabinet-on-stand, typically for the second half of the 17th century, was designed in oak and enriched with carved ebony and veneers of rosewood and ebony. The façade decor, extremely geometric in arrangement, is executed in the strict architectural format typically for the Dutch furniture of the 17th century. Surmounted by a straight entablature, with characteristic frieze, architrave, and projecting cornice. The moulded corniche, above a plain frieze, set with three lion’s masks. The two doors with rectangular panels set with moulded corniches and scrolling foliage, flanked by half round pilasters with carved capitals. The sides also with rectangular panels with moulded corniches. The lower section with two drawers with the original wooden handles, seated on the three original ball feet. Inside with the original oak shelf. This monumental piece has been fully restored and refinished. Possible to add other patinated shelves if needed. Please contact us ahead for a shipping quote. Charles II joined oak panel chest , Rustic English oak chest, second half of the 17th century, the cover with 19th century panels. With moulded and carved terminals, the cover with later floral carved panels together with commemorative initials, the frieze with interlaced scroll carving above triple panels with carved lozenge shaped medallions, the interior with a reconstructed till with later elements, on stile supports. This panelled chest is a nice old survivor which has undergone some workshop attention, probably in the twentieth century, to ‘enhance’ the appearance of the cover or perhaps to provide the owner at that time with some components removed from another item that was distressed with initials appertaining to the family. The item retains its original iron loop hinges. The interior till has been reconstructed but lacks the pivoted cover. Dimensions: 130cm x 53cm x 62cm high. Condition: Solid and sturdy, age and wear commensurate with age, some historic repairs and minor alterations, retains its original iron loop hinges. Each piece is made of lathe-turned limed oak and is hand sanded for a smooth finish. 15th century oak coffer ironbound
A gorgeous and exciting piece of antique furniture. This 17th Century oak coffer most likely used to store grain used to be in Lord and Lady Armitage's Kirklees hall estate, 16th century Grade I Jacobean hall close to the village of Clifton in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. This lovely oak coffer was part of the auction sale of Lord and Lady Armytage estate belongings in March 2013.
