This listing is to have a one-of-a-kind rococo inspired suit custom made to your size! The suits start at £600 which includes a jacket, blouse, neck piece, and a bottom half of your choice e.g. trousers, shorts, skirt. I can also create matching accessories such as shoe clips, hair bows etc. I will design a piece specific to you and your style, which is one-off and bespoke. Here's why... I only work with second hand and/or dead-stock fabrics and materials to create my pieces, as sustainability is hugely important to me and I love to make each piece totally unique and one-of-a-kind! We can work together to pick fabrics you like either from my existing fabric stash or to source second-hand fabrics if we can't find what you're looking for. Re-purposed fabrics could be anything from a pair of vintage curtains to end-of-roll fabric remnants! For this reason there will have to be some flexibility regarding the materials we use, but I always try to give you as many options as possible according to what I have, and what colours and patterns you like. Inspiration images are of course welcome, and I will send you original sketches and fabric photos for you to chose from. Postage is free for UK customers, and overseas shipping costs will depend on each commission, as the size and weight of the final piece will affect the overall cost. I will make the suit as close to your measurements as I possibly can, but I am unable to do fittings in person if you are out of the UK so please bear this in mind! The pieces pictured above are previous commissions I created for clients, so whilst I can't replicate these designs, I hope they give you some idea of what is possible. Different colours and styles are welcome. To see more of my work check out my Instagram: @meg_lara_atelier *Please don't 'purchase' this listing! I will set up your own custom listing for you once we have discussed your design, thank you.* If you would like to enquire about a commission, please feel free to send me a message here on Etsy or you can email me at meglaraatelier [!at] gmail.com and I can give you more information. Join me on my search for all things fine, gracious, grand and glorious. We are awash in rudeness, garishness and sloth. Together, let's look for the beautiful things that still remain. Yes, we'll focus quite a lot on The Victorian and the Edwardian. However, our goal is to find the beauty that seems to be missing in all aspects of our lives. Maybe, together, we can start a new Belle Époque.

One of Georgiana's numerous fashion achievements was her invention and popularization of what was known at the time as The Picture Hat. When she sat for Gainsborough in 1783, Georgiana wore this heavenly haberdashery which she had designed herself and after the was painting exhibited at the Royal Academy the hat became all the rage. Numerous women went straight to their milliners requesting "the picture hat" that they has seen at the Royal Academy. Whether they actually liked the oversized feathered and ribboned black hat, or were only imitating the fashionably elite is not known. But this hat resurfaced in the following century among Victorian women now called the "Gainsborough Hat". Lauren and I are making a gallant effort to recreate our favorite 18th century hats as best we can. Under completion they will be unveiled at hat day at the Saratoga Racetrack. Whenever that is. Some bloggers have successfully been able to recreate this hat. Given my limited experience in the dangerous life of haberdashery, this could turn out to be very interesting. Below are some pictures I've found of this fabulous hat. circa 1909 From the upcoming film The Duchess which I have yet to obsess upon in the blog. Notice the skull-like quality to Kiera's face, so 18th century
Museum-quality antique late 17th/early 18th century diamond and yellow gold Baroque “sequilé” earrings and pendant/brooch demi-parure, Portuguese, with hallmarks from the period and in the original case. This Georgian sequilé jewel from the first half of the 1700s features intricate filigree, pierced, and die-pressed gold work. It is closed-back set throughout with table-cut and rose-cut diamonds, notable for their almost crude simplicity. The pieces are richly adorned with chiseled and scalloped decorations, including volutes, scrolls, and foliate motifs, further accented with pear-shaped pendant drops. The dangle or chandelier style drop earrings are secured to the reverse with the original lever-back fittings. The pendant/brooch is secured at the top with a pendant bail fitting and also includes a later-added hinged pin and roller clasp for use as a brooch.
