Abbott Fuller Graves (1859-1936) was an American painter🎨 and illustrator who specialized in decorative open air🎨 garden paintings and floral still lifes. His use of thick brushstrokes, bright colors, and natural light shows the influence of European impressionism🎨.
Charles Swindoll is an evangelical Christian pastor, author, radio broadcaster, and educator. He is the founder of Insight for Living in Frisco, Texas, which reaches more than 2,000 stations around the world in 15 different languages. His namesake art print reads the following sentiment: "He said, 'The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.'" CIRCLE OF SEBASTIAN STOSKOPFF Still Life with Cat and Fishes Oil on canvas 13 x 15 3/8 inches (34 x 39 cm), gilt frame Sebastian (or Sébastien) Stoskopff (1597-1657) was an Alsatian painter. He is considered one of the most important German still life painters of his time. His works, which were rediscovered after 1930, portray goblets, cups and especially glasses. The reduction to a few objects, which is characteristic of early still life painting, can again be recognized in Stoskopff's painting. His chief works hang in Strasbourg and in Saarbrücken. His still lifes forged an interesting blend of influences from the Hanau/Frankfurt schools (notably the work of Georg Flegel) and from Paris, where he had lived and worked from 1622 to 1639. Stoskopff's paintings are characterized by a strongly geometric ordering of space, in which objects are arranged with great clarity, often against rich, dark backgrounds.
