Wood Pendant Lights, Hight Ceiling Lamp, Dorm Gift A pendant lamp that is both simple and sophisticated, classic, and refined. The Wind lampshade is handmade of untreated natural wood. It is a flexible, lightweight, domed structure, made of a sequence of veneer strips resting on each other, closing a circle. The first time we built this lampshade we were using veneer scraps from a local wood shop. While playing with the material we discovered that it is thin enough to bend into a round shape, and yet strong enough to hold that shape against gravity. The fascination of this piece is in the rhythmic intervals of veneer, air and light that create rich variations of light. This hanging lamp can be used as a single center piece in the living room, it looks great as a pair or more above long dining tables, or as a group of several lamps in different heights for places with a high ceiling.
