Earlier this week I took some time out to make this Water Cane, I purchased the tutorial for this cane from CraftArtEdu designed by Claire Wallis. Its a fairly simple tutorial for those that have experience in caning involving skinner blends. One of the teachers on my team did this project a few years ago and thought it might be a good way to assess our students understanding of landforms. Each student painted a thick, oval paper plate 1/2 blue and 1/2 green, and then made models of 9 different landforms out of modeling clay. We used gray, dark brown, light brown, red, royal blue, and green clay. Students cut the labels by folding and cutting index cards and then sticking them into each clay form. The flat green plate represented the flat plains, and the blue represented the ocean. I think they turned out great and the kids had SO much FUN making them!

This elementary art lesson teaches students about the basic hand-building technique, coils. Students practice the technique by creating a coil shell turtle sculpture. This two-day project has beautiful results and includes activities and handouts. This can be taught with a kiln or air-dry clay and no kiln. Glazing and painting instructions are included. With a focus on the basics of working with clay, this is ideal for young artists, kindergarten to 5th-grade art classes. This handmade ceramic creamer is a beautiful addition to any modern home. Use it for your daily coffee ritual, or why not serve gravy, dressing or soup for a nice touch to any dinner! This item is made to order, production time is approx. 1-4 weeks. Each piece is made in the Nordic Pottery studio in the south of Sweden. First it is thrown on the potters wheel and then trimmed after a couple of days. After that it is fired in a bisque firing, glazed and handpainted, and then once again fired in the kiln. This process takes about 3 weeks, and is made with attention to detail and a love for good craftsmanship. - Dimensions: Width 9 cm (3,5 in) Height 6 cm (2.35 in) - All items are microwave and dishwasher safe. Prerequisite: Hand-building I This is a continuation of the Hand-building 1 class, and is intermediate skill level. We will be creating ceramic objects using slab, pinching, and coil methods. Expect to create at least 6-8 finished pieces. Participants will be managing their own clay in this class. First bag of clay is included.
