This is a collaborative art project that makes a stunning display. The best part is that while it looks amazing, it is really one of the most simple projects I’ve done.

(The template for the strips was hard for my tiny preschooler's hands to curl. So I extended it a bit if you're working with younger children. 2. Cut out strips of paper for your paper chains. (We traced construction paper, but to make this a recycled craft, just trace old newspaper or magazines!) 3. Staple your face onto a strip. 4. Then, proceed to make your paper chains. (Staple the legs to pieces as you make them.) When you're finished, staple your tail onto the end. We made two- one was made from 9 pieces and the other was out of 11 pieces. But I saw this really neat version on the Frugal Handmade that was super long! She also made her face facing sideways, which makes it great for hanging up as decoration.) 8 More Awesome Chinese New Years Crafts! This past weekend we celebrated Lunar New Year with several friends. There were tons of yummy snacks and (of course) several Chinese New Year crafts and activities! One of my favorites was this giant, collaborative Dragon painting, so I thought I'd share it here today. This post contains affiliate links. This means I make a small portion off of any purchases made through the links at no additional cost to you. Thank you for the grocery money! For my full disclosure policy, click here. To prepare this activity, I drew a giant dragon using black acrylic paint on a roll of drawing paper the night before. Then, we taped it to a picnic table and provided the kids with tempera paint. Here's the result of their joint efforts. (Children as young as 2 and as old as 10 painted.) And that's it! If you're interested in the other activities we had at the playdate, we also.... Used origami paper to fold origami dogs Practiced writing Chinese characters (like "fu") on red construction paper using washable tempera paint Held a mini-dragon parade (One of the super talented mothers made a cardboard dragon for us to use!) Threw snap poppers on the ground to imitate "fireworks" Handed out red envelopes to kids Did a toy swap (every child brought an old toy and exchanged it with another child's old toy) And as always, if you're interested in more craft ideas, check out the links below: More Chinese New Year Crafts Cardboard Dragon Puppet Chinese New Year Dragon Paper Bag Puppet Wearable Paper Bag Lion Head Cherry Blossom Tissue Art Paper Blossom Branches for Chinese New Year Folded Lantern Art Happy Lunar New Year friends!
