Продолжаю выкладывать страницы из книги Кэтрин Стрэнд Холкебоер "Выкройки для театральных костюмов и отделки одежды и аксессуаров от Древнего Египта до 1915 года". Книге, в которой дан самый простой крой, который подойдет для театральных постановок, а так же реконструкторам той или иной эпохи. К 1500 году мужская одежда, задающая модные веяния, хоть и по -прежнем удержит первенство в костюме, однако потихонечку начинает проявляться и женская мода. Одежда к началу 16 века отражает тенденции североитальянской моды, т.к. с начало в 1494-1495 г. франко-имперских войн и у других государств со своими внутренними неурядицами в Италии культурное влияние стало стремительно распространяться на запад. Внешне знатные итальянцы, изображенные на картинах Марко Марциале, Карпаччо и др., вполне могли сойти за английских придворных начала XVI века. Английские дамы, напротив, не следовали итальянским образцам, придерживаясь старой франко-бургундской традиции, лишенной готических чудачеств. Строгие, даже аскетичные силуэты позволяли определить дамский костюм как "монашеский". Посднее возрастающее влияние в торговых отношениях с другими странами, Реформация принесли с континента веяния немецко-швейцарской моды (1510-1545). Как и в предыдущие столетия , бал правят просторные одежды. Вместе с тем широкое распространение получают прорези и буфы. Итальянская мода еще удерживает свои позиции в 1520 годах, но ближе к 1540-м усиливается влияние Испании, становясь более заметным к 1555 году.
